Poppy bud with back light. This is a perfect example of breaking the rules in Photography. Most of the time you want to keep the sun at your back. But to have back light, you must shoot into the light source and use the darkest part of the subject ( in this example, the left side of the bud at the midway point).  By doing so, you allow for detail in the shadows and let the highlights “go hot” which adds interest and depth to your image. Experiment with this technique by metering different points on the image. And as always, have fun!
